I take many photos when I travel (and often share them in my travel posts) and I’ve also started a small business where I sell my travel art prints.
No doubt you’ve gathered favorite images from your travels over the years. There’s a lot you can do to relive your travel memories beyond displaying them on canvas or in frames. You can get really creative with your digital images. Print them in miniature for displays, in large scale as murals, or use them to create gifts or home decor. Fifteen ideas below!
1. Turn photos into a calendar.
I like the Artifact Uprising calendar pack best. You can start on any month. I used my Coastal Views Square Set to create this gold foil calendar for 2021.
2. Make a wall clock.
This natural wood clock with white hands is from Society 6 created using my Joshua Tree art print.
3). Create coasters for your living room.
These ocean print glass coasters were created with my gold coast print. Make your own glass coasters with Zazzle.
4. Make a mousepad for your desktop.
I like the mousepads at Zazzle, they are a thicker and last a long time. I’ve made a few over the years. For this mousepad, I uploaded the digital image of my Oahu surfboard print from this Surf & SUP set.
5) Personalize a candle.
Upload a favorite photo to Yankee Candle and pick a scent from their collection to make your own personalized candle. I used my Kauai Palm art for the image above.
6. Make Refrigerator Magnets
Did you visit a favorite botanical garden or series of landmarks? Have them made into refrigerator magnets to relive that day over and over again. Magnets made with Sage Succulents Square Set using Social Print Studio service.
7. Customize a cell phone case.
Made with Beached Sailboat print on Case App.
8) Install a Wall Mural
Murals Your Way offers the option to create your own wall mural up to 8×8’. Digital art shown on wall: Wine Country Oak.
9.) One-of-a-Kind Shower Curtain
Imagine yourself in a favorite spot while you wash your cares away. Created with California Palms; make your own on Zazzle.
10. Create a Unique Jigsaw Puzzle
Read the story of how I turned my Joshua Tree print into a puzzle here.
11. Display prints in small format.
Floating shelves or art ledges are the perfect place for a mini display. Print a series of 4×6” or 5×5” photos and arrange them with or without mats. (Find this DIY hanging art ledges project here.) Or simply arrange prints on the wall with tape or hang from clips. For printing squares, I like the Artifact Uprising, Social Print Studio, and Parabo Press online services.
12. Print Large Scale Photo strips
Everyone loves photo strips for their nostalgia. Social Print Studio offers large scale photo strips for wall displays.
13. Display Photos on Your TV
Traci at My Simpatico Life explains how to make your smart TV display photos and art. Shown is Red Rocks print on TV display (media stand image via All Modern).
14. Tell a story with a photo book.
As a gift to yourself or a travel mate, a photo book is a keepsake for life! image source: Social Print Studio.
15. Make folded note cards.
Upload your images to create square folded note cards on thick paper that come with envelopes like these. A great idea to have on hand when you need to write a quick note and don’t have time to run to the card store. I made these note cards with my Coastal Views Square Set of digital images.
What are the ways you display your images from your travels? In frames or photo books or some other creative way?
